Water Treatment

The manual lubrication requirements for water treatment plants can demand regular attention to remote equipment.  In order to reduce the workload to provide proper lubrication via manual greasing it is very common for water treatment plants to use automatic lubricators.

The water treatment industry also has some excellent examples of applications where access is very time consuming and potentially dangerous.  Figure 1 is a good example of this where the airator equipment floats in a dam of highly oxygenated sewage.  Access for the purpose of manual greasing is by boat only and is a two person task.  From a safety point of view the oxygenated sewage presents significant danger in the event that a maintenance person falls overboard.  For this example the performance of the STAR Vario lubricators can be monitored using binoculars from the safety and comfort of the dam bank by simply monitoring the progress of the grease pistons.
